1. Whole wheat elbow macaroni - 4 cups
2. Mayonnaise - 1 cup
3. White sugar - ⅓ cup
4. Distilled white vinegar - ¼ cup
5. Prepared yellow mustard - 2 ½ tablespoons
6. Salt - 1 ½ teaspoons
7. Ground black pepper - ½ teaspoon
8. Onion, chopped - 1 large
9. Green bell pepper, seeded and chopped - 1
10. Red bell pepper, seeded and chopped - 1
11. Celery, chopped - 2 stalks
12. Grated carrot - ¼ cup
13. Chopped pimento peppers (Optional) - 2 tablespoons

How to cook deliciously - Healthier Classic Macaroni Salad

1. Stage

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook elbow macaroni in boiling water, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 8 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water.

Mix together mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar, mustard, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl. Stir in macaroni, onion, bell peppers, celery, carrot, and pimento peppers until well combined. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
