1. Packed brown sugar - 1 cup
2. Shortening - ½ cup
3. Unsweetened chocolate, melted - 2 (1 ounce) squares
4. Egg - 1
5. Buttermilk - ½ cup
6. Chopped walnuts (Optional) - 1 cup
7. Baking soda - ¼ teaspoon
8. Salt - ½ teaspoon
9. Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
10. Cake flour - 1 ½ cups

How to cook deliciously - Nancy's Chocolate Cookies

1. Stage

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).

2. Stage

Cream brown sugar, shortening, melted chocolate, egg and buttermilk.

3. Stage

Add dry ingredients and beat until smooth.

4. Stage

Drop onto greased cookie sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Ice with Chocolate Cookie Buttercream Frosting when still warm but not hot.
