1. Vegetable oil for frying - 2 cups
2. All-purpose flour - ½ cup
3. Red cooking wine - ¼ cup
4. Water - 2 teaspoons
5. Chopped fresh parsley - 1 teaspoon
6. Minced garlic - ¾ teaspoon
7. Kosher salt - ½ teaspoon
8. Ground black pepper to taste - ½ teaspoon
9. Button mushrooms - 10 medium
10. Grated Parmesan cheese - 2 tablespoons

How to cook deliciously - Southern-Style Fried Mushrooms

Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Whisk flour, wine, water, parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper together in a bowl until well combined and no lumps remain. Dip mushrooms, one at a time, into batter to coat.

Carefully place coated mushrooms into hot oil, making sure they don't touch or stick together while cooking; fry until golden brown, 5 to 6 minutes. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate lined. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese to serve.
