1. Beef broth 4 quarts
2. Onion, sliced into rings 1 large
3. Fresh ginger root 6 slices
4. Lemon grass 1
5. Cinnamon stick 1
6. Whole black peppercorns 1 teaspoon
7. Sirloin tip, cut into thin slices 1 pound
8. Bean sprouts ½ pound
9. Fresh basil leaves 1 cup
10. Fresh mint leaves 1 cup
11. Loosely packed cilantro leaves 1 cup
12. Fresh jalapeno peppers, sliced into rings 3
13. Limes, cut into wedges 2
14. Dried rice noodles 2 (8 ounce) packages
15. Hoisin sauce ½ tablespoon
16. Hot pepper sauce 1 dash
17. Fish sauce 3 tablespoons

How to cook deliciously - Vietnamese Beef Pho

1 . Stage

Combine broth, onion, ginger, lemongrass, cinnamon, and peppercorns in a large pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and cover. Simmer for 1 hour.

2 . Stage

Arrange bean sprouts, basil, mint, and cilantro on a platter with peppers and limes.

3 . Stage

Soak noodles in hot water to cover until soft, about 15 minutes. Drain.

4 . Stage

Place equal portions of noodles into 6 large soup bowls; place raw beef on top. Ladle hot broth over noodles and beef. Serve alongside hoisin, hot pepper, and fish sauces; pass platter with garnishes.
