2. Dry lentils 1 ⅔ cups
3. Stewed tomatoes 1 (14.5 ounce) can
4. Onions, chopped 2 large
5. Garlic, minced 3 cloves
6. Salt 2 teaspoons
7. Pepper ¼ teaspoon
8. Dried marjoram ¼ teaspoon
9. Dried sage ¼ teaspoon
10. Dried thyme ¼ teaspoon
11. Bay leaf 1 large
12. Carrots, cut into 1/2 inch pieces 2 large
13. Celery, chopped 1 stalk
14. Green bell pepper, chopped 1 medium
15. Shredded sharp Cheddar cheese 1 ½ cups

How to cook deliciously - Baked Lentils with Cheese

1 . Stage

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

2 . Stage

Mix water, lentils, stewed tomatoes, onions, garlic, salt, pepper, marjoram, sage, thyme, and bay leaf together in a 3-quart casserole dish.

Bake, uncovered, in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Stir in carrots and celery; cover and continue to bake until lentils and vegetables are tender, about 40 minutes.

5 . Stage

Stir in bell pepper, then sprinkle Cheddar over top. Bake, uncovered, until cheese has melted, about 5 more minutes. Remove bay leaf before serving.
