Ingredients for - Braised Red Cabbage with Apples

1. Orange, halved - 1 medium
2. Red cabbage, cored and diced (1-inch pieces) - 1 medium head
3. Granny Smith apples, cored and cut into 1-inch pieces - 2 medium
4. Onion, chopped - ½ medium
5. Vinegar - ¼ cup
6. Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
7. Salt - 1 teaspoon
8. Ground black pepper to taste - 1 teaspoon

How to cook deliciously - Braised Red Cabbage with Apples

1. Stage

Juice one orange half. Remove and discard the peel from the second half, and cube the flesh.

2. Stage

Combine cabbage, apples, onion, vinegar, cinnamon, and salt in a large stock pot over low heat. Add orange juice and chopped flesh, then season with pepper. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender and has reduced, at least 45 minutes.
