Ingredients for - Nova Scotian Hodge Podge

1. Fresh green beans, trimmed and snapped - 1 cup
2. Fresh wax beans, trimmed and snapped - 1 cup
3. Diced carrot - 1 cup
4. Diced turnip - 1 cup
5. Water, or as needed to cover - 4 cups
6. Salt, or to taste - ¼ teaspoon
7. Cubed new potatoes - 2 cups
8. Heavy cream (Optional) - ½ cup
9. Butter - 6 tablespoons
10. Water - ½ cup
11. All-purpose flour - 1 tablespoon

How to cook deliciously - Nova Scotian Hodge Podge

1. Stage

Combine green beans, wax beans, carrots, and turnip in a stockpot; add water to cover. Stir in salt and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.

2. Stage

Add potatoes and simmer until tender, about 30 more minutes. Stir in cream and butter.

3. Stage

Whisk 1/2 cup water and flour together in a small bowl; mix into soup and cook until thickened, 3 to 5 minutes.
