1 . Stage
Remove the pips from the dates. Remove the zest from the orange with a fine grater. Prepare the nuts.

Grind the ingredients of the filling - I used a meat grinder. You can just chop them with a knife or use a blender.

Add a spoonful of butter and the zest and juice of half an orange to the filling. Mix thoroughly until a smooth paste is obtained (you may need a little more juice).

Defrost the puff pastry and roll out, sprinkling with flour, until the sheet is 2 to 2.5 times larger. Fold both sheets together and use a sharp knife to cut out the pieces.

Place one billet on parchment and spread the filling over it with wet hands.

Put the second piece on top and twist the "branches" of the future Christmas tree. I have a little leftover stuffing - I distributed it on the "trunk" and covered it with a strip of leftover dough.

Brush the formed cake with egg ("trunk" can be sprinkled with sesame seeds or sugar) and bake in the oven at 180 degrees for 25-30 minutes until browned.
8 . Stage
The "branches" of the finished "date tree" can easily be separated from the "trunk" - they are delicious crispy bagels. And the "trunk" can be cut into double-filled cakes (for the most patient). I recommend it!
