Preheat the oven to 400°F. In a bowl, mix the crushed pretzels, melted butter and 1/2 cup of the sugar. Press the mixture into a 13x9-inch pan, then bake it for seven minutes. Let it cool completely on a wire rack.

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar until creamy. Fold in the pineapple and whipped topping, then refrigerate the pineapple fluff, covered, until serving time.

Place the pineapple fluff in a serving bowl. Break the pretzel mixture into small pieces, then stir them into the pineapple.
