1. Soy sauce ¼ cup
2. Hoisin sauce, or more as needed 2 tablespoons
3. Water 1 tablespoon
4. Garlic, minced 1 clove
5. Green onions, chopped 1 teaspoon
6. Toasted sesame oil ½ teaspoon
7. White sugar ½ teaspoon
8. Minced fresh ginger ¼ teaspoon

1 . Stage

Whisk soy sauce, 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce, water, garlic, green onions, sesame oil, sugar, and ginger together in a small bowl until well combined, adding more hoisin sauce if needed to thicken. Cover and refrigerate until flavors have blended, 1 to 2 hours.

When ready to serve, pour mixture into a small saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat until warm, 2 to 4 minutes.
