Ingredients for - Lisa's Traditional Stuffing

1. Whole wheat bread, cut into small cubes - 2 loaves
2. Olive oil - 1 teaspoon
3. Mild Italian sausage - 1 pound
4. Onions, diced - 4 medium
5. Celery, diced - 3 stalks
6. Butter, or more to taste - ½ cup
7. Garlic, minced - 5 cloves
8. Rubbed dried sage leaves - 2 tablespoons
9. Dried parsley - 1 ½ teaspoons
10. Dried summer savory - 1 teaspoon
11. Salt - ¾ teaspoon
12. Ground black pepper - ½ teaspoon
13. Italian seasoning - ½ teaspoon
14. Dried marjoram - ½ teaspoon
15. Dried thyme leaves - ¼ teaspoon
16. Ground nutmeg - ¼ teaspoon
17. Chicken broth, or more to taste - 1 cup

How to cook deliciously - Lisa's Traditional Stuffing

1. Stage

Place bread cubes in a large bowl.

2. Stage

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir sausage in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Add onions, celery, 1/2 cup butter, and garlic. Saute until onions appear translucent, about 5 minutes.

3. Stage

Add sage, parsley, savory, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, marjoram, thyme, and nutmeg; mix well. Stir in 1 cup broth.

4. Stage

Slowly pour broth and sausage mixture over bread cubes, stirring continuously as you pour. Add additional broth and butter as desired.

Stuffing is ready to bake in the oven or stuff in the bird.
