1. 1 cup all-purpose flour -
2. 2 tablespoons cornmeal -
3. 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder -
4. 1/4 teaspoon salt -
5. Dash onion powder -
6. 3 tablespoons shortening -
7. 3/4 cup 2% milk -
8. 1 large egg, room temperature -
9. 1 package (16 ounces) miniature smoked sausages -
10. Oil for deep-fat frying -
11. Spicy ketchup -
12. Mustard -

How to cook deliciously - Miniature Corn Dogs

1. Stage

In a small bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt and onion powder; cut in shortening until crumbly. Whisk milk and egg; stir into flour mixture just until moistened. Dip sausages into batter.

In a cast-iron or other heavy skillet, heat oil to 375°. Fry sausages, a few at a time, until golden brown, 2-3 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Serve with ketchup and mustard.
