1. Water - 5 cups
2. Dry lentils, rinsed and drained - 1 (16 ounce) package
3. Dry white wine - 1 ½ cups
4. Chopped carrots - 3 cups
5. Chopped celery - 3 cups
6. Vegetable broth - 2 cups
7. Diced tomatoes - 1 (16 ounce) can
8. Chopped onion - 1 ½ cups
9. Chopped bell pepper - 1 ½ cups
10. Chopped cabbage - 1 ½ cups
11. Tomato paste - ½ (8 ounce) can
12. Brown sugar - 3 tablespoons
13. Curry powder - 2 tablespoons
14. Chopped garlic - 1 ½ tablespoons
15. Onion Powder - 1 ½ tablespoons
16. Kosher salt, or to taste - 1 ½ tablespoons
17. Black pepper - 1 ½ teaspoons
18. Ground cumin - 1 ½ teaspoons

How to cook deliciously - Hearty Vegetarian Lentil Stew

1. Stage

Bring water and lentils to a boil in a large saucepan. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer until tender, 15 to 20 minutes. Increase heat to high, add wine, and let it sizzle and bubble for 1 minute. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 3 minutes.

2. Stage

Stir in carrots, celery, vegetable broth, diced tomatoes, onion, bell pepper, cabbage, tomato paste, brown sugar, curry powder, garlic, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cumin. Cook, stirring frequently, until flavors are well blended and vegetables are tender, 45 minutes to 1 hour.
