1. Butter - 4 tablespoons
2. Thick-cut bacon, diced - ½ cup
3. Diced onion - ½ cup
4. Chicken broth - 2 cups
5. Red wine, or to taste - ½ cup
6. Apple, peeled and sliced - 1 large
7. Apple cider vinegar, or to taste - 2 tablespoons
8. White sugar, or to taste - 2 teaspoons
9. Whole cloves - 4
10. Bay leaves - 3
11. Ground nutmeg, or to taste - ¼ teaspoon
12. Ground cinnamon, or to taste - 1 pinch
13. Salt and ground pepper to taste - 1 pinch
14. Shredded red cabbage - 2 ¼ pounds

How to cook deliciously - Uli's Apple Red Cabbage

1. Stage

Melt butter in a stockpot over medium-high heat. Stir in bacon and cook until just beginning to crisp, 4 to 6 minutes. Add onions; cook and stir until onions are lightly browned and translucent, 6 to 8 minutes.

2. Stage

Stir in chicken broth, red wine, apple slices, and apple cider vinegar; bring to a boil. Stir in sugar, cloves, bay leaves, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Stir in red cabbage; cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer until cabbage is soft and cooked through, 30 to 45 minutes.
